Childcare Information

Childcare will be provided by the Junior Auxiliary free of charge for playground volunteers at the Jackson Street Community Center each day during build week from 8 AM until 8 PM. All volunteer parents that will be using childcare must sign our temporary childcare waiver form and turn it in when any child is first checked in. The Jackson Street Community Center is located at 923 Walnut Street, Vicksburg, MS 39183.
Please make note that each child must eat prior to checking in or bring their own meal (breakfast, lunch, or dinner) and drinks with them. Light snacks and kool-aid will be provided. The community center has a drink and snack machine available as well as water fountains. Click here for the daily childcare schedule planned for build week.

We will have lots of fun! There are several fun activities scheduled. Music will be led by Wyn Pratt on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. The Fire Department is coming with a fire truck for the children to explore on Saturday morning. On Sunday after lunch, the Police Department will be there with a patrol car and speak to the children. THEN, Tang Soo Do Karate school will provide a demonstration for the kids at 3:30 PM on Sunday. Great movies will be provided each day...we will be showing Enchanted, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Nancy Drew, The Bee Movie, and more!

Rules:

• Volunteers must indicate they have children in childcare and hours they are to be in childcare on sign-in sheet at volunteer check-in table.
• The same parent must check children in and out (signatures must match).
• A child may remain in childcare for a maximum of two shifts per day.
• The childcare area is accessible only through the Main Entrance of the Jackson Street Community Center, and children will not be allowed to leave the childcare area.
• Parent/guardian may not leave the construction site while children are in childcare.
• Parents are responsible for providing breakfast/lunch/dinner for child/children in childcare.
• Any child left in childcare must be toilet trained or not younger than age 3 and not older than 13. (Ages 10-13 may work on site with a parent.)
